Variably apply Nitrogen on homogeneous oilseed rape enables to get more yield.
EXTREMES EXAMPLES OF THE METHOD
• A well developed oilseed rape crop has already absorbed a lot of Nitrogen before the winter. Its need for extra Nitrogen application is therefore limited at the end of winter when growing again.
• A little developed oilseed rape crop will have to develop a lot at the end of winter. Therefore its need for Nitrogen is high in order to achieve its yield potential.
EXAMPLE OF RECOMMENDATION MAP ON AN HOMOGENEOUS OILSEED RAPE FIELD
This oilseed rape crop has grown little due to dry conditions in the autumn.
Biomass beginning winter: 0,5 kg/m² – Biomass end winter: 0,5 kg/m²
+175 €/HA MARGIN INCREASE
This crop has grown very well in autumn thanks to strong N residues from previous crop and ideal climate conditions. It has then lost ~30% of its biomass during the cold winter.
Biomass beginning winter: 3,5 kg/m² – Biomass end winter: 2,5 kg/m²
+83 €/HA MARGIN INCREASE
